Volunteer Positions
Here are some of the ways you may be able to help.
Foster, short-term
Short-term fosters are generally needed when a client cannot take care of their pet due to a temporary medical situation, such as recovery from surgery or treatment. Short-term fosters may also be needed in emergency situations when an owner has passed away, and the animal must be removed from the home immediately, In these cases, the animal would be with the foster until a transfer could be arranged.
Information Materials distributor
Materials distributors visit various locations throughout Eugene and Springfield, such as veterinary clinics, senior living communities, medical offices, etc. to request that PPA brochures and informational materials be made available in their waiting rooms, front desk, or common areas. Volunteers also visit sites weekly to replenish materials.
Animal Transportation
Animal transport volunteers help with the movement of animals from the owner’s home to the PPA office to await foster, take animals to veterinary appointments, visits to owners, or transfers to shelters.
Animal welfare monitor
Animal welfare monitors work with our short-term foster volunteers by checking in wtih fosters on a periodic basis to determine the well being of the animal, needs of the fosters, and tracks animals in foster care.
Patient Advocate
Patient advocates communicate with clients regarding our services, work with clients to determine the needs of patients and animals in order to create a beneficial plan for both.
Community Events
Community events volunteers represent PPA at community events throughout Eugene and Springfield. Volunteers will engage members of the community to answer questions, distribute materials, and present PPA’s mission and services.
Education/ presentations
Educations volunteers present PPA’s mission and services to groups in various settings, such as senior living communities, home care management offices, businesses, medical offices, and more. Education volunteers will represent PPA in a professional manner and be prepared to answer questions.
ESocial media/ website
Volunteers can help to create content for our social media platforms and website, as well as monitor comments, questions, and replies.
Fundraising/ donor relations
The fundraising team works to create fundraising events and campaigns, seek grants, and and help cultivate and maintain donor relationships.
Office
Office volunteers assist with administrative tasks, such as answering phone calls, filing, and data entry. Office volunteers may also be asked to perform other volunteer tasks as needed during their volunteer shift.
